Smile Friday’s Daily-Attempt-At-Looking-Skinny who-ever-said-brown-and-black-don’t-go-together? post:

* BR Mad Men collection dress
* BCBG belt
* Coah heels

I must admit, I’ve *really* embraced dresses this summer. What a shame I was too scared to wear them previous summers - they make getting ready for work so easy!!

Today’s Daily-Attempt-At-Looking-Skinny post is brought to you by Banana Republic’s new mad men collection. My lady curves seem to have found a happy spot in this dress and I’m somewhat obsessed with their lace details… so win-win-win all around! OH!! and-and, this is my first ever single digit sized dress - size 8!! Internet. High. Five!! Wahoo!

~ Mini Little Friday Non-Scale Victory! ~

In high school my friends and I would spend a lot (a lot!) of time at the local mall, walking around, trying things on, and just being under age citizens, with nothing to do. I was always the queen bee of trying purses, heels and jewelry on. One size fits all? Yes please!

I would always secretly take a gander at all the beautiful clothes, but was usually too embarrassed to try anything on, y’know, in case the garment didn’t fit. (Oh the lies I’d say to avoid trying clothes on in front of friends: no money, don’t like anything, too tired! Oh-my!).

I had the stores down to a science. I knew which stores I could try clothes on in (Gap, Old Navy, etc.) and the stores to not even bother with (Aritizia, Guess, Laura, Jacob, BCBG,) and then there was Costa Blanca - my mortal enemy.

Every week, without fail, the friends and I would venture into that damn store, and their insanely small sizes [or. my insanely large gut. it’s still up for discussion :)] would taunt my love of vintage-style clothes. That store’s clothes wouldn’t even come close (close!) to zipping up, or making it past my thighs. Not even close. But their clothes were so pretty (floral? yes please!) and so cheap, I was so envious my friends could fit them and buy them so easily. Occasionally (on my skinny-diet days) I’d try something on, justincase… but nope, in all my years of going to that mall, and going into that store NOTHING ever fit.

Until today.

I saw a pretty flowery top (50% off too!) in the window, and wanted-wanted-wanted! I debated the whole thing for a moment, and then figured, as I had no friends there with me… what the hell, and get this, IT FIT! To be exact, the medium fit! Me! It fit me! Oh what a happy occasion! Especially as it was one of those horrid, annoying stores where the mirrors are OUTSIDE the dressing rooms (ugh, I hate that with a passion).

Anywho, check it yo (above!). The white shorts were, wait for it… $3.25 too!!!! No lie (told you it was cheap!). I am a happy camper this Friday evening, as I enjoy watching Say Yes to the Dress with my mumsy, in my new floral top!

xo Liz

Smile Friday! Work/date-tonight outfit edition. I’m positive this dress is not work appropriate… so phew, good thing I already quit.

Just popping in to say hello, with a daily outfit post. I’d say I’m going to miss these in a few months when I’m gone, but that would be a complete lie, as look at how awkward I am!!! Tonight is hill training, which is all sorts of crappy, as I just want my bed, a blanket and a tv. Stupid marathon being a short 53 days away…

This is today’s Daily-Attempt-at-Looking-Skinny post; the scale read 154 this morning, which is neither here nor there, as that’s apparently the weight my body has decided to chill out on (yet, again). It’s somewhat frustrating as I’ve been really pushing myself with my runs AND eating SUPER healthy, but still, nothing.
Obvs I’d love to lose at least another 10 before my trip, as good God there will be so many beaches, but, that being said, I’ve somewhat come to terms with wearing a one piece on a beach…. somewhat.
In other way more important news, it’s the weekend (in 6 hours)! Oh happy dance! I’m heading out into the heat of the night with work colleagues to have a drink (or two. or five) to celebrate my recent news. I’m wearing this dress! And as it makes me look skinny, and feel awesome, no doubt tonight will be fun-fun-fun (whatever, deal, I’m shallow like that).
Tomorrow will be spent at the beach for a bbq and volleyball with friends, and by volleyball I mean watching people play volleyball, as I’m useless at the game myself. Sunday I’ll drag my ass out of bed to run 19k (12 miles), beofore I gallavant around on a horse in the afternoon. Also, sometime this weekend I’ll hang out on the couch for a few lot of hours and pretend to be a beached whale <— super excited for that.
HAPPY FRIDAY and WEEKEND!!

In an unfortunate turn of events, I was not born Catherine Elizabeth Middleton, which means I am forced to repeat outfits a lot (like, a lot), just like the common man. <— Sad times.
However, I try to rotate my ‘good outfits’ around for different friend groups. Which pretty much means, anytime I wear this dress one can assume I have plans after work; it’s my hi-friends-I-haven’t-seen-in-a-while-This-is-how-I-always-look-at-work dress. Fools them every time (every. time.), little do they know, I once wore lulu-lemon pants to work WITH HEELS (true story. and ps., it was a horrid idea). Mohahahah I like to fool my friends into thinking I’m a kept lady.
In other, but related news, I have dinner plans tonight for Toronto’s Summerlicious extravaganza (high end restaurants, offer el cheapo prices!). Oh! and-and! I like to pretend my love handles are actually my hips (va-va-voom!) that way I feel skinnier.
[I’d also like to take this moment to say, I think my “self-photos-look-at-me!” have got a little out of hand lately. Let us blame this on me thinking I’m dating you, mmmkay Mr. Hot Sexy BoyManfriend? Excellent. I’m pleased we cleared this up and are now on the same page.]
