I think I may have just had the perfect weekend. Well, a perfect weekend designed for me. It was seriously amazing and get this, it didn’t involve dancing the nights away, under the influence of rum n’ cokes, to music I don’t know the words to, but everyone else seems to know.
Saturday morning was the Toronto Women’s 10k race, which was awesome-awesome! I didn’t make my goal time (1 hour), but was still pleased with 1:02. Right after the race, my sister picked me up, and we headed up north to gallivant about, in open fields, on horses.
We then headed home to swim, and eat munchies by the pool, where I worked on getting rid of my not-so-awesome running tan (cough sock-tan-line and sports-bra-tan-line cough ewwwww cough).
Sunday morning I was running on the streets by 8:30am, hitting the pavement in perfect strides. It was 23k (14.3 miles) and my absolute best run to date (see route here). I felt strong and consistent. I ran at the front of my group (I’m always at the back) and set the pace at a 7min/km.
After the run, 20 of us headed to brunch for delicious food where I was told (in a non-malicious way), “the only real way to take time off, is to be lighter,” as I looked down at my eggs Benedict brunch in front of me, I felt fat and stupid.
I finished the weekend of perfect weather (like seriously guys, PERFECT weather; warm in the sun, cool in the shade) by heading back home to swim a little more, and chillax on the couch while catching up on TiVo’d Property Virgins, which I am seriously obsessed with.
Despite running a total of 33k (20.6miles) this weekend, I still managed to gain weight and was star struck when I saw 170 flicker on the scale this morning. I can’t even tell you what I’m eating that’s making me gain weight, (cough maybe the ice-cream sandwich? creamy egg’s benedict brunc? buffalo chicken wrap and fries? fudgsicles at the parents? or pool snacks…?), but my head is just not in the diet-game these days. This is the epitome of my life, if I’m doing well at exercise, I’m failing at food, or vice-versa. Why can’t I rock BOTH? Ugh.
Losing weight is all mental. All mental. No matter how much ‘desire’ you have to lose weight, if you haven’t made the commitment to lose it, nothing is going to change. (Note to self: New York City trip, Marathon, New Years Eve, Sister’s Wedding, traveling, skinny jeans, white t.shirts, bikinis, aka all your hopes, dreams and wishes).
Blah, anywho, Happy Monday!
