~ Scenes from my Canada Day in Melbourne, Australia ~

We started drinking caesars at 2pm. Were eating (really bad) poutine at 2:30pm. Were singing loud Canadian songs at 3pm. Were in the Crown casino losing money by 10pm. Were ordering a McDonalds/KFC extravaganza at 10:30pm. Were home by 11pm. Yet it felt like 4am. Whoa.

I had had a really low key weekend, filled with healthy food, crossfit, running, and napping up until 2pm on Sunday… and then? and then that’s when all (super fun) hell let loose.

I regret none of it (I had consciously decided to enjoy my night before hand - because really, five years from now, what am I going to remember? Exactly).

It was a fun-filled night, with three couples (ladies all Canadian, eh!), where we got to teach the three Aussie men a few fun facts about our native land. Things such as “lucked out” means you *are* lucky, a “pot luck” is a party where everyone brings a delicious dish, that you spell the wheels on cars “tires,” not “tyres,” and it’s ‘airplane” not “aeroplane,” and “pepper” not “capsicum.”

They’re slow, but learning.

Happy Long Weekend Canada!! Miss you! xo

Welcome! I'm Liz, the girl relieved the Internet has 0 calories. I'm a Canadian in Melbourne. A marathoner. CrossFitter. Paleo (somewhat) eater. Traveler. Cheese lover. And I think you're great!
