Dear Pretty Shoes,

I regret to inform you that you simply must go back to the store as soon as possible.  The pain you caused my little toes was unprecedented; I really couldn’t feel them for 90% of my run.

I understand this must come as a great shock as you longed to be my partner in crime, and by ‘crime’ I mean ‘achieving my goals.’  True, we could have been an epic team together, concurring the 15k and then finishing the 21k, but sadly your tight squeeze on my chubby feet simply means we’re not a compatible fit.

However you put forth a valiant effort and please feel free to use me as a reference.

Sincerely,

E

9.2k (5.7miles) Run Complete.

Run Diagnostic:  I ran with my new friend, A (of-emailing-me-from-this-blog-fame) and although it was a hard run (see next post) it was a really good one!  I think we slowed to a walk 5 or 6 times, but they were quite short.  The weather was perfect, the course was flat and there were tons of other runners keeping us motivated.  She (being the all star runner that she is) spoke most of the way, which really helped me lose track of time and simply run. Our 15k is a week Saturday and dare I say it A? We’re going to aim to finish it within 1.5hours, but I’d still be thrilled if I just complete it.

New (purple) Nano iPod
New Bathing suit
New Skirt (black and cream(in photo)
New Blouse
New Black T.Shirt  (photo)
New running shoes
New Nike toy
New cashmere sweater
New running pants
New headband
New OPI nail polish
Holy shit, each of these purchases I justified with, “well, I just got a raise, I owe myself a reward.”   I am officially done rewarding myself. In other news, I did NOT run last night, and not because I didn’t try.  Once I got home (9:30ish) I changed into my new running attire and headed down to the gym which was SO FULL.  I biked for about 20 minutes while waiting for a treadmill, but hated every second of it, and thus called it a night.
HOWEVER, never fear dear blog lovelies,  tonight I am running with my running buddy, A.  It should be a solid 8k and keep me on schedule. Also, please note I didn’t run outside at 9:30 at night because it was dark, I am a girl, I live in a city. (because let’s be honest, that’s what you *cough Ben cough* were thinking).

i don’t know what it is about this blog, but i check it religiously and am always curious as to what’s going on in “E’s” life. definitely one of the best weightloss blogs i’ve read.

Wow. Thank you. Thank you very much.  This made my smile beam, tummy jiggle and heart flutter. It means a lot, so sincerely thank you :)

My Food Today

I rarely do this due to my laziness, but today I actually have a little time/effort…

  • McDonalds fruit parfait  (160cal)
  • 6” Turkey Subway (280 cal)
  • Hummus Wrap and garden salad (480 cal)
  • 1 fudgsicle  (90 cal)

TOTAL: 1010

Although it’s probably more as I had cheese and honey mustard on my sub.

Take this with a Grain of Salt (or Mrs. Dash if you’re watching your sodium)

What do you mean it’s not cool to reblog yourself? Well, I guess that’s just how I roll.  I stumbled across this post today, it’s from when I was actually losing weight (the good old days)…. I should really take my own advice and simply commit.to.myself. Uggh, why is this so much easier said than done?

OneTwentyFive:

I received an email last night from a fellow tumblr which warmed my heart, but it had a little sentence in it I wanted to post about, “Congrats on losing as much weight as you have, you make it look easy.”

I wanted to take a quick second to let her know (and you, if you think that), that it’s not easy. Not easy at all. It’s actually incredibly hard and everyday I wake up and put a lot of effort into eating right and fighting the urge to just sit on the couch and drink my sorrows away.

I’m approaching the 30 pound mark soon (that’s right! I saw 162 on the scale this morning!) so I thought I’d pass on the things I’ve learnt thus far…

  1. You have to exercise more than you think.
  2. A half-hour walk doesn’t equal a brownie.
  3. You have time to exercise.
  4. Eating more of something won’t help you lose weight.
  5. Your body is working against you.
  6. Life is also working against you.
  7. You are the only person who can lose the weight.
  8. It’s really hard, every day you have to put effort in. Every day.
  9. This is not a diet; this is your life.

I’m by no means an expert and still have a long way to go (~40 pounds), but once I realized the above list, committing to my myself became a lot easier.

nutritionista:

Inspired by this new running fanatic, I just bought myself one of these(thanks, girl! Until now, I thought I had to have a Nano in order to use Nike+). I didn’t want to splurge on a Garmin, so this seemed like a healthy (read: cheaper) compromise.
I’m sick of relying on running buddies to tell me how far we’ve gone and at what pace. Plus, this will be an easy way to track my progress.
For about $80 (including S+H and a shoe pouch for the sensor I bought separately), this system is less than half the price of similar devices I’ve seen. Even on sale, the cheapest Garmin will still run you $170, plus they seem like sort of a pain to use.
Anyone used the Nike+ SportBand? What do you think?

OMG YES. YES. YES! Mine is sitting on my desk and I can’t wait to get home and try it!  Apparently you can also “race people around the world,”  which naturally means I think the entire blog world should get it and then we can run together and race; you know you wanna… [warning: you will LOSE, and by ‘LOSE’ I mean ‘WIN’ because I am a very slow runner]
As soon as I use it I’ll update asap and let you know my thoughts on the product along with my stats (pace, distance, time, cal ect) As I bought the purple iPod nano on the weekend, I just bought the chip part (C$40) and shoe part (C$10) as the Nike watch didn’t suit me well because I like running with a watch with a timer (as I run 10 minutes, walk 1 minute).
