December 2012
In a Blink of an Eye: Twenty Twelve.
January
The year started with my 5th trip to New York City, and my favourite trip, at that.
I saw Sleep No More (still a highlight), wore no pants on a New York subway, went to Glamour’s offices, saw Snow Patrol, finally saw the Vivian Maier exhibit I’d been stalking online, and met up with some pretty cool people (Hi! Janine, Val, Andrea, Veronica, Katie, Em, & Sarah!).
Oh,...
So, yes.
I’ve decided for the past 28 years I’ve been too hard on myself. I know. I know. Some may agree, or some may say ‘nonsense!’ But it’s something I’ve been thinking, slowly ‘n surely, for the past few months.
It’s just that in my recent creeping of others’ non-paid private investigation work, I’ve noticed just how freaking normal...

"CHRISTMAS IN AUSTRALIA ON A SCORCHING SUMMER’S...
Did you know I grew up in South Africa? Pretoria, South Africa to be exact. Which meant my December birthday was a pool party, and Christmas Day was a BBQ, or wait, I should said braai.
Then I moved to Canada and somehow, along the way, I completely forgot about those summer Christmases and fell deep into the North American culture of making snow forts and Frosty the Snow Man replicas in the...

Merry Christmas!!
Merry Christmas Little Blog, Merry Christmas indeed.
It’s 8:30pm on Christmas Day over here in Australia, and I just snuck away from the festivities to wish everyone near and far a huge Merry Christmas.
Lots of Love to the four corners of the world and I hope everybody has a wonderful day,
Love Liz

Twas The Weekend Before Christmas
{World’s Longest Post: More for my bad, future memory, than anything else :) }
Let’s take the time machine back to Friday evening, shall we? We shall indeed we shall! I left work and headed straight to CrossFit (what is CrossFit?) only to find “my” WOD (workout of the day) up on the board. Yipee!
As I’ve mentioned before, CrossFit names their universal...

The Night Before, the Night Before Christmas Walk
Tonight Matt and I took a hand-in-hand (Bahahahaha; False. It was way too sweaty & hot out to touch) walk through the city to check out Melbourne’s Christmas lights. And despite our feet being sore from a busy day of shopping, and the weather sitting at a hawwwwt 32C (91F) at 10pm, it was totally worth it. Totally.
Here’s a (big!) selection from our night. Simply beautiful, well,...

It's Beginning to look like (a summer) Christmas!
Christmas in Melbourne. Oh me, oh my! This is actually my first Christmas not at home with my family, and despite that being hard at times, Melbourne is delivering!
It’s actually 39 degrees (102F) today and I am off to do some (sweaty) Christmas shopping and then head to the beach with Matt - which, btw, I AM SO FREAKING EXCITED TO GIVE HIM HIS GIFT!! Seriously can’t wait until...
can i tell you a secret? well. i’m going to.
i am absolutely, from my fingers to my toes, terrified of going home. i always knew it was coming, but lately it just feels so real. my trip, so final. and although without question i’m terrified and don’t want to leave at all, i’m also excited; this, of course, confuses me greatly. i wish i just felt stronger towards one place....

These are a Few of my Favourite Things...
I keep saying “thank you” to Matt.
Really, I do.
Last night he told me to stop saying it, as yes, he assured me, he knew. But I just can’t help it because I am truly, truly so very thankful.
He made me feel special this weekend. Loved. (More than usual.) And even the girls at work today commented on how I seemed in another world; in a good, happy world. And I was.
This past...

Brazilian. Let's Do This.
My brain is a little scrambled on where to start this post. On the one hand it’ll probably be the most personal thing I’ve ever posted (ha! who am I kidding?), but then on the other hand everyone I mentioned it to seemed shocked I had never got one.
That totally threw me off; do most of you ladies go bare, down there? Huh. I had no idea!
I suppose the main reason I never looked into...
Time Management.
Sometimes I wonder if it’s all about time management. If you master that. You master everything; you master life.
My mom always said,
High school is about how naturally smart you are
University is about how hard you work
and The Real World is about the person you are.
And although I very much agree with the above three points, I also think time management plays a huge role...

I am feeling good in dee neighbourhood. So let us go point form at it, shall we? We shall!
My roommate walked in on me nak-id this morning. Like, we’re talking not a pair of undies in sight naked. I was literally just standing in the middle of the washroom contemplating whether to weigh myself or not (but who am I kidding? I always do). And then BAM! There she was. And there I was. All naked,...

My Birthday
This is my 4th birthday with a blog. Ummm… WOW!
25th Birthday - Toronto 26th Birthday - Las Vegas 27th Birthday - Indonesia
And now, lucky me, I get to share & record my 28th birthday in Melbourne, Australia(!) with you. And lucky for you (not me), we have a beautiful visual shot of exactly how I looked on the morning of my 10,232nd day on this planet. Courtesy of Mathew,...

Final Review: Paleo Challenge
The Challenge in Review
The full dirty deets can be found here, but my summary of Paleo-Style eating is this: eating healthy is about the right type of food, not the quantity of food.
I was not allowed any: dairy. sugar. grains. legumes. processed food. And I was allowed as much as I wanted of: Meat. Fish. Veggies. Fruit. Good fats (avocado, bacon). Natural food (like maple syrup, dates,...

I really need to change my little yellow flower thingy. This is completely “Tumblr Behind the Scenes” talk, but whoa. It ugly. To be honest I had completely forgotten about it (it’s essentially my blog’s profile pic) until I just saw it on Chris’s blog.
I am having a birthday week. Okay, okay, before you get all sassy on my ass, I know, I know, I too hate when...
Twenty Seven.
My life is the definition of uncertainty But that’s the way I like it. Where will I be on December 3, 2012? I have absolutely no idea.
That’s what I wrote 365 days ago And I remember really, really meaning that. I had no clue where I wanted to move, wanted to flee. To London? Chicago? Hawaii?
I was alone in Indonesia when I wrote that. I was gutsy, and brave, and ready to embrace...
I woke up this morning and felt so overwhelmed with love. Love from my family and friends back home. Love from my new world in Melbourne (seriously, I couldn’t believe how many texts I got!!), and love from the Internets. Thank you. I feel so unbelievably lucky to have so many fantastic people in my life, and am so thankful for everybody’s messages, cards, gifts and kind words.
Whenever my...
